As a Registered Nurse/Clinical I, Emergency Department Unit, you will ensure high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities include:

- Nursing Process: Collect and interpret patient data, formulate nursing diagnoses, and assess patient conditions.

- Discharge Planning: Provide ongoing discharge education and plan effective discharges from admission.

What We're Looking For:
The Nurse Residency Program at Valley Presbyterian Hospital (VPH) is designed to support new graduates as they transition into professional nursing practice. This 3–5-month program features a blend of computer-based learning modules via HealthStream®, in-person classroom sessions, and practical skills training in the Simulation Lab and at the bedside. The program is tailored to meet the individual needs of each Nurse Resident, utilizing evidence-based content.
A dedicated Educator for Nursing Advancement guides and supports Nurse Residents throughout their first year. Additionally, Nurse Residents are paired with a mentor through the Mentorship Program, providing ongoing support during the residency and beyond.
The program includes several weeks of RN preceptorship on designated units, with classroom sessions featuring interactive presentations by subject matter experts and hospital leaders. VPH encourages growth and involvement within the organization through the Clinical Ladder Program, where Nurse Residents can join committees, including Unit Based Councils, to lead frontline change initiatives.
Becoming a Nurse Resident at VPH offers a supportive and nurturing environment, helping new nurses become confident and competent professionals while fostering a sense of community and belonging.
- Experience: Acceptance into the VPH New Graduate Program or less than one (1) year of clinical experience as a registered nurse, preferably in an acute care setting.
- Education: ADN degree required; BSN degree preferred.
- Licensure/Certifications: Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing, BLS certification, LA City Fire Card certification within 30 days of hire.
- Emergency Department Requirements:
- ACLS
- PALS (Obtain within the first 30 days of employment or transfer)
- Management of Aggressive Behavior Certification (Obtain within the first 30 days of employment or transfer)
- NIHSS Certification (Obtain within the first 30 days of employment or transfer)
- Annual Critical Care Swank Stroke Education (Obtain within the first 30 days of employment or transfer)
