Job Summary:

• As a Clinical Lab Scientist, you will perform clinical laboratory procedures for inpatients and outpatients of all ages. Responsibilities include testing and analyzing biological specimens, quality control, instrument maintenance, and phlebotomy. 

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Medical Technology, or related science
• Participation in continuing education: Minimum 12 hours per year to meet licensure requirements.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Current and Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
• Must successfully complete and maintain LA City Fire Card certification at the time of hire or within the first 30 days of employment.

Experience:

• 1 year experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist preferred.

Skills:

• Technical competence in laboratory procedures.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle emergencies.
• Proficiency with basic computer systems.

Responsibilities:

• Perform tests according to established procedures and understand their relevance to diagnosis and health monitoring
• Conduct quality control procedures as per laboratory protocol
• Maintain equipment and report deviations to the supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientist
• Troubleshoot equipment and test systems
• Assist with phlebotomy, specimen processing, and phone inquiries
• Train new personnel as required
• Utilize LIS/HIS computer systems for workload management and patient report generation
• Prioritize workload to minimize turnaround times
• Maintain current knowledge and skills appropriate to the patient population's age
• Respect patient rights and communicate appropriately for the patient’s developmental stage
• Maintain clinical skills specific to the patient’s age 

 Salary Range: $52.31 to $64.82
